12, A New Remake Of 12 Angry Men
The Apple website has the following to say about “12”
12 characters. 12 truths. The story of 12 jurors discussing a verdict to pass on an 18 year old Chechen boy whether he is guilty of 1st degree murder of his step-father — an officer of the Russian army. The film thinks aloud about today’s life, about the need to hear the next of kin and help that person before it’s too late. The action of the picture unveils in one room — a gym adjusted for jury deliberations.
Does that sound familiar to you? Well if you’re a fan of 12 angry Men with Henry Fonda it certainly will sound familiar because it is essentially a remake of that movie. However this time it is a foreign language film from Nikita Mikhalkov.
The trailer itself looks ok, but there was nothing really there for me to buy into. It is billed as a remake of 12 Angry Men, so (and yeah ok it is an assumption) but I guess it ends the same way as 12 Angry Men and therefore I already know what the end is. So whilst I may like to see this film, I may catch it on a rental rather than spend any money to see it in a cinema.
