Released on DVD on the 23rd March
“A dirty minded, satirical – psychotic comedy” Entertainment Week
“Very funny, very dark” 4 stars, FHM
Overflowing with smart quips and sex-themed rants Choke tells the satirical tale of dysfunctional con-artist Victor Mancini. Available on DVD from the 23rd March the multi-award-winning black comedy, based on novelist Chuck Palahniuk’s book of the same name, follows the twisted protagonist as he scams his way into the lives of the wealthy residents of his hometown.
Unloved medical-school dropout Victor Mancini (Sam Rockwell; Charlie’s Angels, The Assassination of Jesse James) works at a Colonial-Williamsburg-themed park by day and trawls sex-addiction groups looking for action by night. Suffering under the financial strain of looking after his Alzheimer’s-afflicted mother Ida (Anjelica Huston; Darjeeling Limited) he devises an ingenious, yet complicated scam; heading to upscale restaurants Victor pretends to choke on his food, safe in the knowledge that one of the wealthy patrons will come to his rescue. Once ‘saved’ Victor appeals to his saviour for financial aid.
“Cult classic-in-waiting that gives new meaning to ‘screwball’” 5 stars, Bizarre
Winner of the prestigious Special Jury Prize at the Sundance Film Festival 2008, Choke is the second movie based on the work of Palahniuk, the controversial author of Fight Club. Released by Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment this irreverent comedy is a witty, provocative, and unexpectedly heart-warming homage to Chuck Palahniuk’s best-selling novel.
