The wife really wanted to go see this when it had it’s cinema run but we just couldn’t get away (must start to complile list of babysitters!). Come to think of it, it doesn’t seem that long ago, but here we are at DVD release time already. Here’s the official press release:

Set in the murky world of industrial espionage, Duplicity demonstrates that where money is everything and morality takes a backseat, it’s hard to determine who is playing who.

Former government spies-turned-corporate operatives and clandestine lovers, Ray Koval (Owen) and Claire Stenwick (Roberts), are working on opposing sides of an all out commercial war between corporate giants Equikrom and Burkett & Randle.

B&R boss Howard Tully (Tom Wilkinson) is rumoured to be about to announce the discovery of the latest innovation in the beauty industry; a drug so in demand that it would bring fortune to the company who patents it. On hearing this, ambitious Equikrom CEO Richard Garsik (Paul Giamatti) is determined to crush his bitter rival by getting his hands on this formula first – by any means possible.

Embroiled in this corporate death match, Ray and Claire spot their chance to make a fortune and plot to secure the top secret formula themselves.

But the further they become entangled in their bosses’ Machiavellian plotting it becomes less and less clear exactly who is being played. As their mutual attraction threatens to interfere with their carefully laid plan, the trickiest part of the operation for Ray and Claire is to decide if they can trust each other.

As the plot twists and turns through the flashbacks in time and myriad of double and triple crossings, the one thing that becomes apparent is that in the high stake world of industrial espionage, nothing is what it seems.

Synopsis

Set in post-apocalyptic 2018, “Terminator Salvation” stars Christian Bale as John Connor, the man fated to lead the human resistance against Skynet and its army of Terminators. But the future Connor was raised to believe in is altered in part by the appearance of Marcus Wright (Sam Worthington), a stranger whose last memory is of being on death row. Connor must decide whether Marcus has been sent from the future, or rescued from the past. As Skynet prepares its final onslaught, Connor and Marcus both embark on an odyssey that takes them into the heart of Skynet’s operations, where they uncover the terrible secret behind the possible annihilation of mankind.

The latest installment of “The Terminator” film franchise, “Terminator Salvation” is directed by McG, from a screenplay by Michael Ferris and John Brancato. The film is produced by Moritz Borman, Derek Anderson, Victor Kubicek and Jeffrey Silver, and executive produced by Peter D. Graves, Bahman Naraghi, Mario F. Kassar, Andrew G. Vajna, Joel B. Michaels, Dan Lin and Jeanne Allgood.

The film also stars Anton Yelchin as Kyle Reese, Bryce Dallas Howard as Kate Brewster, Moon Bloodgood as Blair Williams, Helena Bonham Carter as Serena Kogen, Common as Barnes, and Jadagrace as Star. The Halcyon Company Presentation of a Moritz Borman Production of a McG Film, “Terminator Salvation” is being distributed in North America by Warner Bros. Pictures, with Sony Pictures Releasing International handling distribution in most international territories (excluding Korea and select Mideast territories).

As an Owen Wilson fan Marley & Me was one of those films that I had down on my cinema watch list that I just never found the time to see. It doesn’t seem all that long that it was on at the cinema either, but it’s release on DVD and Blu Ray has just been announced for the 6th of July (see press release below for details).

With the imminent cinematic release of Terminator: Salvation, it’s an excellent time for the release of the third installment in the franchise on Blu Ray. If you need your Terminator fix before going to see Salvation and want to see how John Connor progresses through to Judgement Day then this is an essential purchase. Arnie’s also back for possibly his last outing as a T-800 (there have been rumours of him making an appearance in Salvation, but I don’t think they’ve been confirmed). With women still fighting for their right for equal pay, there’s one thing they can be sure of: when it comes to being bad-ass, they’re equal all the way. To celebrate the release of Dragonball Evolution on April 8th , a film containing two feisty females who show the boys one or two things about ‘feminism’ via the method of kicking some ass, we’ve put together a list of the 5 strongest, scariest, toughest women ever to fight their way across the screen.

5. Angelina Jolie in Wanted

Okay so pretty much every other movie Angelina has been in, she could be classed as pretty bad-ass. Even in Changeling, she still manages to come off as force to be reckoned with. But it’s her performance in Wanted, as highly-skilled assassin Fox, that truly cemented her status as a woman you wouldn’t wanna annoy. Even just a bit. In fact, a TV ad for the film was recently pulled as Angelina was blamed for making guns and violence seem sexy. Even if you were her next target, chances are you wouldn’t put up much of a fight.

MOST BAD-ASS LINE: ‘I want you to curve the bullet’

MOST BAD-ASS MOMENT: Leaning out of a fast car, with a gun, shooting the life out of her pursuer. At this point you’re not sure if you want her to kiss you or kill you.

4. Michelle Pfeiffer in Batman Returns

Ignoring the foul-smelling odour that Halle Berry left on the screens in 2004, the definitive Catwoman has to be Michelle Pfeiffer in the 1992 sequel Batman Returns. We already knew she was hot but no one could have guessed that she would look this good in a leather cat-suit. Purring and slinking around, this Catwoman cements her place as one of the sexiest female villains ever to grace the screen. Cue poorly conceived cat pun.

MOST BAD-ASS LINE: ‘I am Catwoman. Hear me roar.’

MOST BAD-ASS MOMENT: Back-flipping into the middle of a Batman/Penguin tête-à-tête, Michelle gives out a ‘meow’ and a building behind her explodes. Both are suitably taken…

3. Linda Hamilton in Terminator 2: Judgment Day

Playing mainly the victim in the first film, well up until the finale at least, Linda Hamilton finally showed us what she was made of in T2. As the troubled Sarah Connor, she tried to warn everyone that they were coming but no one listened. By the end of the movie, after she had fought and shot her way to victory, they started to take notice. Not many actresses could convince us that they could take on an android in a fight but Linda Hamilton was a force to be reckoned with. Sadly, only a voiceover is what we can expect from her in the upcoming Terminator:Salvation. It’s probably for the best anyway; if she was back in person, then the battle would be over way too quickly…

MOST BAD-ASS LINE: ‘There’s 215 bones in the human body. That’s one.’

MOST BAD-ASS MOMENT: Watching her, mistakenly put away for being crazy, it’s clear that Sarah Connor isn’t someone you should restrain. Finally snapping and stabbing her doctor in the knee, she quips next time she sees him, ‘Good Morning, Dr. Silberman. How’s the knee?’

2. Uma Thurman in Kill Bill

It was a long time coming. All those years wasted, trying to figure out the truth about cats and dogs and being unfortunate enough to star in both The Avengers and Batman & Robin. Then finally in 2003, Uma unleashed her bad-ass side and we all thanked Tarantino a whole bunch. As the multi-named heroine, done wrong by her assassin ex-colleagues, Uma spent two entire films getting her own back. Blood was shed. Bodies fell. Daryl Hannah lost an eye. In Kill Bill Parts 1 and 2, Uma Thurman fought her way to the top of Hollywood’s deadliest women.

MOST BAD-ASS LINE: ‘I am gonna ask you questions. And every time you don’t give me answers, I’m gonna cut something off. And I promise you, they will be things you will miss. Give me your other arm!’

MOST BAD-ASS MOMENT: Easy. Buried alive by Michael Madsen, it seemed that Uma was done with. But against all odds, she fought her way out of a coffin. Not something most of us could count as a talent…

1. Sigourney Weaver in Aliens

Ripley – the original bad-ass female and still one of the best. Spanning four films, over almost 20 years, Sigourney Weaver was probably the first woman to take control of an action film and kick some serious ass. After the first instalment, she had created a strong screen presence but by the time Aliens arrived in 1986, it was tough to know who was scarier: the aliens or Ripley herself. Rumours persist of a 5th movie and even at the age of 59, predominantly slumming it in TV movies, Weaver would still show those creatures who to truly fear.

MOST BAD-ASS LINE: ‘Get away from her, you bitch!’

MOST BAD-ASS MOMENT: Taking on the alien queen, with a giant mechanical machine, Weaver manages to have you totally on her side but also kinda worried for what the hell she’s gonna bring down on that pesky alien. All this and an Oscar nomination in the process.

Christine Collins is a busy single mother living in a working class suburb of 1920’s Los Angeles with her son Walter. In the absence of Walter’s father, Christine is forced to bring up Walter alone, working long hours in a telephone exchange to ensure she can provide for her son. One Saturday afternoon, Christine is called unexpectedly to work, forcing her to leave her son home alone. But when she returns in the evening, Walter is gone.

Alone and terrified she is forced to wait over 24 hours until Walter can be reported missing to the police. The torturous search for her son begins and over weeks and months it seems probable that Walter may never return home. Until one day she receives a phone call from the LAPD informing them Walter has been found. Overcome with emotion and unbridled joy, Christine prepares to meet her son at the train station, surrounded by LAPD dignitaries and the press.

But when Walter arrives Christine is lost for words, the boy returned to her is not her son. In a whirlwind of flashing cameras and intense pressure from the over bearing Police Captain J. J. When she returns home with the boy and without anyone around her she concludes with total certainty that the boy is not hers owing to the significant physical and emotional differences between this boy and the son she loves. The critically-acclaimed hit comedy drama series Skins returns for a third series available to own on DVD from Monday 6th April 2009, with the Series 1-3 Box Set released on the same date by 4DVD.

The DVD is packed with extras including behind-the-scenes featurettes for each episode, behind-the-scenes at the new cast auditions, video diaries and much more. With just two of the original cast returning Skins Series 3 introduces a new gang to Roundview College. Expect another rollercoaster take on each of the group’s experiences of teen life mixed with the madness of the adult world surrounding them.

The Class of 2009 is headed up by the beautiful and mysterious EFFY (Kaya Scodelario), returning as the new queen bee; her best friend PANDORA (Lisa Backwell) is sweet and kooky and keeps the new gang together. 

Twins KATIE (Megan Prescott) and EMILY (Kathryn Prescott) are pulling in different directions. One wants to shed her identity as a twin and gain social status while the other hangs on, crippled by shyness. NAOMI, (Lily Loveless) a beautiful idealist who is passionate, political and principled completes the girls.

The guys are led by the irrepressible and irresponsible COOK (Jack O’Connell – This is England, Eden Lake), the daring and charismatic leader of the gang. His best mates sometimes despair, sometimes struggle to keep up, but are always there for him when he needs them. FREDDIE (Luke Pasqualino) skateboards, smokes weed and loves his mates. JJ aka Jonah Jeremiah Jones (Ollie Barbieri), is a master illusionist and also their strategist – together they get in, and just about out of numerous scrapes in their scheme to succeed. Finally there’s THOMAS (Merveille Lukeba) who has travelled from the Congo to set up home for his family, and has to find his feet in strange new surroundings. Together the gang bond as they compete against each another, fight one another, and fall in and out of love and lust.

Skins – Series 3 continues with guest appearances from Harry Enfield and Morwenna Banks as EFFY’s parents alongside new guest artists including Radio 1 DJ Scott Mills, and actors Mackenzie Crook, Sally Phillips and Geoffrey Hughes.

Made by Company Pictures and Storm Dog Films for E4 the ten new episodes are written by a young British writing team headed up by Executive Producer Bryan Elsley, produced by Chris Clough and directed by Charles Martin and Simon Massey.

Skins – Series 3 is currently airing on E4 while the DVD and box set are released on DVD on Monday 6th April 2009 from 4DVD.
